7.5.1 Control of production and service provision *

The organization shall plan and carry out production and service under controlled conditions. Controlled conditions shall include, as applicable

  1. the availability of information that describes the characteristics of the product,
  2. the availability of work instructions, as necessary,
  3. the use of suitable equipment,
  4. the availability and use of monitoring and measuring devices,
  5. the implementation of monitoring and measurement, and
  6. the implementation of release, delivery and post-delivery activities.

(from BS EN ISO 9001:2000)

This clause requires organizations to control production and service processes under six conditions. These controls are particularly important where their absence adversely affect quality.

Additionally, although not required, documented procedures and work instructions are encouraged to address these controls and conditions
